Hurricane Sandy: How to Assist Animals and Pets During This Catastrophic Storm
With Hurricane Sandy devastating several states in the Northeast, and having homeowners and others, along with their beloved pets, evacuate to stay safe, we have decided to place the focus on caring for animals during and after this storm. From countless Facebook and official website posts, there has been an influx of requests referencing assistance for donations and volunteer efforts to assist those and animals without a home.
In New York, the North Shore Animal League has provided as many preventative emergency resources as they have been able to, and their emergency response team has been on-call effectively, responding immediately throughout the storm. Food, water and shelter is provided, along with power generator(s).
Joanne Yohannon, the Senior Vice President of North Shore Animal League stated that “with our emergency team’s early deployment, it is the Animal League’s goal to minimize potential danger to dogs and cats and prevent loss of life.”
