Fresh Start to a New Year and New Beginnings with Your Pet

Miniature dachshund puppy

A new year is a new beginning for not only people, but also for your pet. If there are things you need to take care of for your pet, let the new year be a goal to complete them, not to lack, but to gain in progress. The following are a few goals to help you in your endeavors on the road to healthy with your pet:

  • Exercise– This is something that will always be emphasized as we all need to exercise to stay healthy, keep active, and be in good shape throughout our life. Our pets are a good reason to stay active as they need exercise as much as we do.
  • Veterinary visits– Always keep your pet in good health with monthly and annual check-ups at your local vet.
  • Diet– Keep a regulated diet for your pet; don’t over-feed, under-feed, or give them table scraps that can cause excessive weight.
  • Grooming– For your pet to keep a shiny coat, have he or she regularly groomed. Not only does it make them feel better, it reduces shedding and prevents overgrowth of nails on paws.
  • Safety– Make sure all areas of your house, indoors and outdoors, are safe without poisonous toxins or chemicals.
  • Be informed– Make sure you’re aware of all your pets health needs, including medications, vet visits, and diet.
  • Affection and Love– Believe it or not, pets crave love and attention. They liked to be petted, have belly-rubs, and have attention doted upon them often. There’s nothing wrong with this, and should be catered to every pet. Don’t leave your pets out in the cold. If you’re cold, they’re cold.
  • Volunteer and Speak Up– There are so many animals that are craving and needing help, time, love and affection. Volunteer at your local animal shelter, or if you don’t have time, donate supplies or even a bit of money if you are inclined to do so. Be vocal when you see an animal abused or mistreated. You just might save a life.

Happy New Year and here’s to a blessed and great 2014! We wish all of our clients, fans and readers the best in the coming year!
