‘Did You Know’ News: Doggie DNA To Identify Pet Owners

Do you ever see pet owners who let their pets litter (i.e., pee or poop) where they’re not supposed to. When you see this, you’d wish that they’d abide by rules and regulations? Well, if you live in North Texas, you just might get your wish. North Texas apartment complexes are having an influx of pet owners who are letting their pets ‘do their business’ on the complex’s property, and the complex is now collecting the ‘stuff’ to identify those pet owners who aren’t cleaning up after their pet.

The pet’s DNA will also be kept on file to determine if certain owners will need further reprimanding. Although this new tactic has been developed in North Texas, it is predicted that more local apartment complexes will also begin the process. At this apartment complex, it is mandatory that all owners swab their pet’s DNA, and there will be a grace period of a month to have their pet “swabbed at no cost.”

What do you think of this new tactic? Do you agree that pet owners should have their pet’s swabbed for their DNA, or do you think it’s going just a ‘bit too far’?
